Sheppard Public School

Sheppard Public School is located at Keele Street and Sheppard Avenue West across from Downsview Park, Canada's 1st National Urban Park. The school was officially opened in 1958.

More than half of our students speak a primary language other than English. Over 35 different languages are spoken. The most common languages spoken are Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tamil, Urdu, Punjabi, Persian, Spanish, Gujarati, Mandarin and Swahili. Many of our students or their parents have immigrated to Canada. This diversity enhances and enriches our school community.

At Sheppard Public School, we are committed to providing a safe, caring and nurturing learning environment in which each student is valued as an individual and is encouraged to strive for the highest level of achievement.  Our school-wide literacy and math focus ensures a systematic approach to student learning.

This year we will be focusing attention on issues associated with ethno cultural equity and inclusive educational programs that promote racial tolerance, understanding and harmony.

We are implementing school-wide literacy and numeracy plans including school wide literacy and numeracy plans.  Assessment data will be used to drive decision making and to guide instruction.
